Dear Reader,

A Kereszthuzat célja, hogy összekösse és platformot teremtsen a kreatív, aktív és érdeklődő fiatalok számára a közös alkotásra és inspirálódásra kortárs társadalmi tematikák mentén, lehetőséget biztosítva a közös érvényesülésre.A platform megteremtését kétféleképpen képzeljük el: egyrészt egy tematikus, online és nyomtatott formában megjelenő multimédiás magazinnal, amelyben kulturális, művészeti, közéleti, társadalmi és filozófiai témákkal foglalkozunk; másrészt a magazin témái mentén szervezett különféle közösségi programokkal.

Cross-Cover Magazine

The magazine is published twice a year, each issue centred around a broadly interpretable social theme or issue, reflecting the everyday experiences of our generation. Responding to the core theme, anyone – especially young people – may contribute with written work in any genre, visual artworks, video content, installations or sculptures. Our goal is to produce a cross-cultural publication that reflects our generation's outlook on the world. We seek to provide a platform for emerging young artists and thinkers to share their talent and ideas.

Cross-Cover Events

Cross-Cover is more than a magazine; it is a forerunner of long-term change. Our collective's vision is to build a critical, expressive and community-based environment, for which personal connection is essential.

We organise events inspired by the themes and content of the magazine. These may include discussions based on individual articles, exhibitions showcasing submitted works, group exhibition visits, performances, film screenings, workshops and more. Our goal is to build an active, vibrant community around the magazine, offering entry points and connections to art, culture and academia. We believe that by strengthening one another’s work, we can create things together that would not be possible alone.

At Cross-Cover, we think in terms of platforms rather than fixed-format programmes. Every event is an invitation – to connect, to co-create, to engage in open dialogue. We do not want to consume culture passively, but rather get to know it, understand it and live it. That is why we place particular emphasis on collaborative creation and interactive formats that involve participants. We want to awaken the sense in young people that they can create value through their work, influence others and bring about change in their broader environment.

Our Values and Vision

We aim to democratise culture and challenge existing hierarchies, while cultivating a community that responds sensitively and thoughtfully to social issues. We believe culture truly belongs to everyone. We support free and accessible cultural platforms and grassroots civic initiatives. Everyone deserves a chance to express themselves and engage with culture, regardless of class, gender or age.

At Cross-Cover, we see culture as a reflection of the world people create and experience. We believe that open, reflective, and socially aware forms of creation can help us better understand both the world around us and ourselves — and, last but not least, bring about meaningful change. Culture does not belong in an ivory tower or party headquarters, but in the hands of all. If culture belongs to all, it must reclaim its socially engaged, locally grounded, human-centred character.

Cross-Cover aims to serve as a platform that fosters critical thinking among young people. It strives to create a space where, through collective and inclusive dialogue, they can experience that their art, ideas, and opinions truly have a place and a right to exist. We think in terms of communities, not individuals, of participatory culture, not the division between creators and consumers.

Cross-Cover is independent of all power structures, economic and political actors. Only the views and ideas of our members and supporters influence the collective. We aim to operate as horizontally and democratically as possible. We are committed to supporting, as far as our means allow, those in marginalised positions, promoting their visibility and self-expression. We believe in fundamental human equality and the importance of solidarity.

Long-Term Goals

Our most important long-term goal is to build a vibrant and diverse cultural collective that transcends borders, sustaining an active community driven by ongoing dialogue and collective reflection. This community aims to support young people in navigating social spaces consciously and engaging in meaningful acts of cultural creation. In line with this, we are working towards a slow but steady expansion across Central and Eastern Europe. The expansion is conducted through our editors studying abroad and their peers, then eventually publishing bilingual editions. We consider our outreach to Central and Eastern Europe as a meaningful step, rooted in the belief that our shared historical context and experiences offer unique perspectives and knowledge that, when shared, can enhance the cultural landscape across the region.
